Organizer Ramesh Ramdeen on the Ricardo “Cax” Carmona Memorial on August 1st, 2009:

Appreciation is extended to all that participated in a physical way and in spirit to the Cax Memorial ’09.  Although the event was smaller than last year – we only had about 60 past students this year and that might be as a result of the holiday – the event was a success.  Cax’s friends from outside the College and his brothers from the Q commemorated his passing in the only way we can.  Enough fun, drinks, tears and ole talk was had by all.

Adam, per the norm, with his culinary skills handled the pot.  Many thanks are extended to him.

The truly die-hard stayed to the end.  Adam, Hazel, Reggie, Tino, Shakey and other left the venue at around 10 pm.  Imagine even at the end, there were still about two cases of beers, I know it would not have gone to waste, as I said Adam and Shakey were still there when I left.

The planned collection was taken and I am grateful for those who contributed in what ever capacity they could have afforded.  And to those who could not, no love is lost.  Your being present to share in the moment was important, and the intangibles count for a great deal.

Those who still wish to make a contribution, please contact any member of the Quite Respectable Chaps Committee.  As we have indicated, the collection will go toward purchase of trophies in Cax’s honour for the next Royal Football League Competition at  the College in the 2009/2010 academic year.

So once again, thank you for all your contributions.

By way of memorial match report, the game was played in three thirds, or as one other said, “three halves”.  Throughout the first two sessions, the score was one all, both goals scored by the Old Boys.

In the final third, we had no true keeper, David Hinkson having gone out injured.   Randolph was in goal for ten mins, and we conceded two more in that space of time.  The first was another own goal and the other a shot that trickled in from about 60 yards out.

In the final analysis, it was fun evening enjoyed by all, and I am sorry for those who could not have been there.

I am really appreciative to those who were there.   Some of the names worth mentioning are Shakey, Bing, Matthews, Tino, Adam, Curtis Roach, Patrick, Keith, Cateau, Hazel, Max, Randolph, The Logies (Gary and Lester), Jap, Andre, Sio, Horton, Lopez, Frizzie, Kello, Bhola, Reggie, Lemie, Hugh, Martin Blackman, Seales, Georgie, Peters, Dexter Barrington, Des Vinges, Richard Thompson’s Dad, and Spencer Howard who put in a guest appearance on the way to his father’s birthday celebration.
