Archive for August, 2007

A date has been set and plans are in train for the 2007 edition of the Annual QRC Small Lime.

Last year’s edition saw wide attendance, and the introduction of a generational football fete match, where the 90′s boys pulled out all their US-based College Star guns to take on a representative 80′s team and walked away with a small challenge trophy.

This year, the organising committee is looking forward to even greater participation and the 90′s side is in training, looking to take back the trophy from the young upstarts.

Mark the last Saturday in the year on your calendars – December 29th, 2007. Get your clearance organised because when you land, de lime cyah done!

A BROTHER, A FRIEND, A MENTOR, A COUNSELLOR

The sun has set on your time with us.
But for our brother we wont weep
Even though our sorrow is deep
The slow silent stillness of the rivers
The might of the mountains
The width and depths of the oceans
Can never measure what you mean to us
A spirit full of energy and a smile as radiant as the sun
You are forever etched in our hearts.

I can still remember when you taught me the spanner and the drag. (LOL!) You taught me that no matter what the rough patches I face in life, with a bright smile and strength in heart I can overcome many obstacles.

You taught me that a pleasant greeting to someone anyone everyone goes along way in easing the struggle.

And though you are gone from our midst, I will endeavour to keep your spirit alive by giving to the world all that you gave to me.

MY BROTHER MY FRIEND

RIP RICARDO “CAX” “PACMAN” CARMONA.

FOREVER YOUR LITTLE BROTHER TREVON

Royalian Trevon Ferguson aka Selector Lionheart is now based in Texas. He hosts an online audio programme at http://www.backyardsounds.net/ every Saturday night from 8:00 P.M. Trinidad time. On Saturday 11th August, the programme is dedicated to our brother and friend Ricardo Carmona.

On Wednesday 9th August, Royalians gathered at the College to remember fallen brother, Ricardo Carmona.

Prior arrangements having been made for the seniors to play the school’s First Eleven training team, consensus was that Cax would have wanted us to go on regardless. It was an afternoon and night of fun, good food, fine fellowship and fond memories of a brother gone too soon in the company of his family and friends.

Plans are now in train to formalise a series of annual football matches in Cax’s memory. The second game in this year’s series takes place on St. Mary’s Grounds, Serpentine Road, where the Royalian Old Boys’ will take on a representative CIC Old Boys’ team on Sunday 12th August from 4:00 P.M. A match that he was looking forward to with as much fervour as he did when he was at school, Cax will certainly be with the team in spirit, a twelfth man on the field, spurring our boys to victory.

Thanks are extended to all who came through on the evening, including and especially Adam and Pina who organised the evening’s menu, Dookie, Miguel, Georgie et al who provided liquid refreshments, Texas-based Trevon who prepared a stirring tribute that Richie read to the gathered assembly, outgoing QRC Principal William “Bill” Carter for his continued hospitality, and to chief instigator and organizer Ramesh Ramdeen, the catalyst behind the Old Boys’ football efforts.

Photos of the evening’s events are available for viewing at this link. At time of writing, pics from two cameras had been uploaded to the gallery, but more are expected to be included at a later stage.
